All of Hikari’s hair scissors are made in Japan. Our haircutting scissors are hand-crafted by professionals at the Niigata factory in Japan. Οur products must first satisfy strict product inspections and meet Hikari’s quality assurance requirements in order to be sold. Each hair stylist has unique needs surrounding the ”feeling of cutting“, the smoothness or size of the ring, and more. Hikari scissors aim to satisfy every customer’s needs, therefore, we can customize your scissors upon your request. In order to fulfill our customer’s needs, our professionals must first understand the customer. At Hikari our philosophy remains, “Reflect the opinion, as provided by our customers, onto the scissors”. For us, it is meaningless to create and manufacture the best scissors if only from the point of view of the manufacturer. When the customers’ professional requirements meet Hikari’s premium materials and professional techniques, the outcome can only be our very best Hikari scissors.
Hikari’s technical expertise comes from the craftsmanship applied in blade edging on Japanese Katana swords where the surface of the blade is concaved, resembling the shape of clam shells. The “scissors version” applies that same Japanese sword craftmanship, which we call the Hikari Convex Edge.
What is Convex Edge (a.k.a. Clam Shell Blade)?
It is a type of shape or profile of the blade’s cross section, with a bulge similar to the shells of clams in between the ridges and blade edge.
After extensive R&D, Hikari’s founder was the first to introduce this blade technology to the global scissors industry, and our Convex Hair Scissors have achieved an unprecedented sharpness quality. At present, almost every manufacturer attempts to imitate the Convex Edge, and although the form could be reproduced, the quality of the blade’s sharpness cannot be duplicated.
